The intake well work of the Mission Bhagiratha at Jalalpur in Balkonda mandal is in full swing and two out of six motors for pumping water to different parts have been fixed. The remaining four motors would be installed as soon as they arrive, according to Superintending Engineer Ramesh.

Explaining about progress of the work to the new District Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao when he visited the intake well on Sunday, the SE said that 6.5 tmcf of water from the Sri Ram Sagar Project would be pumped from this well. One pipeline would go up to Jagityal giving water to Metpally, Dharmapuri and other places in between.

Trial runs were done to supply water to plants at Argul and Indalwai in the district. All motors would be installed and made operational in next 15 days. Efforts are also on to conduct bulk pumping to give water to 73 habitations in Balkonda, Morthad and Kammarpally mandals, said the Mission Bhagiratha authorities.

The Collector inquired with the authorities whether any alternative arrangements were available to provide water to Amoor town in the event of failure of motors or repairs in pipelines. Mr. Ramesh said in that case 30 CMD water would be given to the town through a separate line.

At present, for Nizamabad town, water was being provided through the Ali Sagar and the Mission Bhagiratha water might not be required for it till year 2030, said the SE.
