Kumram Bheem Asifabad district Collector Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu on Saturday assured Adivasis that no encroachment would be allowed on revenue or forest lands in the Agency.

He assured them of getting a survey done on the lands under encroachment by non-tribals in villages between Hatti and Jodeghat in Kerameri mandal as alleged by an aboriginal tribe leader.

The Collector categorically stated that the district administration is not giving pattas to non-tribals in Agency areas. The administration will look into the aspect of non-tribal migration, he added.

At a preparatory meeting for conducting the 79th martyrdom anniversary of Adivasi leader Kumram Bheem, Mr. Hanumanthu was apprised of the situation by local people.

He was told that non-tribals are encroaching upon lands between Hatti and Babejhari, an area where only Adivasis live.

Meanwhile, the anniversary will be held on October 13 this year and all preparations will start once the organising committee takes shape in a day or two. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, provides funds for observing the anniversary.

Earlier, former members of the committee like -- Athram Laman and Pendur Mohan Rao -- submitted certain demands related with appoint of Contract Residential Teachers and others, 2BHK houses, and roads -- to which officials, including the Collector and ITDA Project Officer B. Gopi, responded positively.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kova Laxmi also attended the meeting.
