Even as the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has drawn up plans to set up a solar power plant in Yellandu area, the unemployed youths of the JK Opencast Project (OCP) affected villages in Karepalli mandal renewed their demand for employment opportunities in the upcoming solar power project.

A group of villagers from Usirikayalapalli, Polampalli and Bhagyanagar Thanda staged a demonstration near Usirikayalapalli on Saturday demanding livelihood opportunities for the local youths of the project affected villages in the proposed solar power project.

The staff of the executing agency entrusted with the task of constructing a 39 MW solar power plant in Karepalli mandal of the Yellandu area assured them that they would convey the demands to higher-ups.

Meanwhile, the local youths of the project affected villages have reportedly decided to meet the General Manager of the SCCL Yellandu Area on Monday to represent the matter.
