The big wigs of the Telangana government would soon be able to watch the progress of works on prestigious irrigation projects such as Kaleshwaram taken up by it with the help of real time video streaming by watching the works as they go on live on the television screen in their offices.

Trial streaming of video from Kaleshwaram project at Medigadda barrage site was tested on Wednesday on the television screen at Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao’s chambers in the Secretariat. Official sources stated that a similar facility was already set up in the Camp Office of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao so as to enable them monitor the progress of works at the touch of button.

System in place

The quality of the video stream from Medigadda barrage site with the help of cameras specially arranged for the purpose is stated to be very good and the system would be in place in all respects in the next few days. Senior officials of the Irrigation Department stated that the arrangement has been put in place to help the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister to monitor works’ progress live.

“Kaleshwaram is one of the prestigious irrigation projects of the Chief Minister and he made no bones of his intention to take its water to at least a few areas before the 2019 election. That’s the reason why an approach channel from Kaleshwaram to Medigadda pump house is being executed on war-footing so that the water is given to lands under over 400 minor irrigaiton tanks in the erstwhile Warangal district by 2018-end,” the sources explained.

High priority

The urgency shown by the government in getting further amendments, suggested by the Centre, to the changes made to the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 by it earlier this year, for getting the President’s assent would clearly indicate the kind of priority the State leadership is giving to the Kaleshwaram project, the official sources noted.
