Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Sunday, attended the final day of the Ayutha Chandi Yagam. President Pranab Mukherjee is expected at around 1 p.m.
Mr. Naidu flew in at 10 a.m. and was escorted from the VVIPs alighting point by Telangana Minister for Commercial Taxes, T. Srinivas Yadav, raising many an eyebrow, considering the fact that the latter continues to be a Telugu Desam Party MLA while holding the portfolio as a Minister in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Government.
Mr. Naidu, who was received with 'Poornakumbham' and full honours, spent more than an hour and a half at the 'Yagashala'.
Accompanying him as part of the AP delegation were Union Ministers Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y.S. Chowdary, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy and Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao.
Since 9 a.m. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao sat at the 'Yagasthali' offering prayers for the welfare of the people and development of the State. What marked the last day was that all the 108 'Homagundams' were lit to the rendition of Vedas and chanting of the 'Chandipaarayanam'.
The crowds were lesser in number on the final day compared to the teeming lakhs who came in the first four days.
