Condemning the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, people from various walks of life took out a candlelight rally in memory of the slain CRPF jawans here on Sunday evening.

Thursday’s attack on a CRPF convoy, for which Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility, left at least 40 jawans dead.

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple committee chairman Mellacheruvu Venkateswara Rao led the rally, which culminated in a meeting at Gandhi Chowk after traversing through the main streets of the town.

Meanwhile, members of the Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) organised a candlelight march in the town late on Sunday evening to pay tribute to the martyrs.

The rally began at the TSUTF district office and concluded at the Zilla Parishad centre. TSUTF vice-president Ch Durgabhavani and district president Nagamalleswara Rao took part in the candlelight rally.

Sit-in in Germany

The Telugu community in Germany participated in a peaceful demonstration, condemning the Pulwama attack, at Berlin Gate in Germany on Sunday.

Under the aegis of Telangana Association of Germany, around 1,000 Indians assembled in front of the Berlin wall carrying Indian national flags and paid tributes to the martyrs and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
