July 08, 2014 11:04 pm | Updated 11:04 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday called on the Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan complaining about the violation in conduct of election rules for the Zilla Parishad election in Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Ranga Reddy districts.

The delegation led by TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah brought to the Governor’s notice the violations of rules and how the Congress ZPTC and MPTC members were coerced and lured to the rival party by the TRS leaders.

Accompanied by former Ministers – D. K. Aruna, J.Geetha Reddy and others, the Congress leaders lamented that five ZPTC members were not allotted to sit in the designated places allotted by the presiding officer by the TRS ZPTC members. They said elections were conducted ignoring the objections of the Congress members and TRS won the ZP chairperson seat.

In Warangal too, the Congress ZPTC members were whisked away by the TRS to support the latter’s chairperson candidate. In Ranga Reddy, despite quorum elections were not held and put off at the behest of the authorities.

The Congress delegation demanded that the election be cancelled and fresh dates announced for that. They wanted the Governor to describe the election of Mahabubnagar and Warangal ZP chief null and void.
