Floor Leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana Assembly K. Laxman has requested Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to intervene as the Telangana government was delaying the conduct of the session of Legislature, and direct it to convene the session immediately as several serious issues warranted it.
In a letter addressed to the Governor, Mr. Laxman said on Saturday that Telangana was facing several problems such as power crisis, farm loan waiver, fee reimbursement, agitation by unemployed youth and seasonal diseases and they warranted immediate intervention by the government. The government had to address the problems by discussing them in the Assembly and for that the session had to be convened, he said.
Further, the validity of the vote on account arrangement would get expired by the month-end and it was mandatory for the Legislature to take appropriate measures to ensure continuity in government schemes and responsibility by validating its expenditure proposals including employees’ salaries and funds for welfare schemes, Mr. Laxman stated. As the State government was not evincing interest to convene the Legislature in spite of a series of appeals, the Governor’s intervention had become necessary, he noted.
