The demand for special variety of tender coconut called ‘Bengaluru bondam’ is increasing by the day as people believe that it helps in quenching thirst and maintain health aswell.

With the day temperatures peaking this summer the Bengaluru tender coconut became much sought-after. Hence, the only outlet emerged in the name of Sri Sai Bengalore Kobbari Bondam at Mudiraj Galli here about two decades ago is always teaming with a number of customers to consume coconut water and also to take them to homes.

The customers never feel it difficult to wait for half an hour for their turn to get the coconut here as they are of the opinion that it has medicinal values and very good quality. It is bigger in size compared to ordinary coconuts coming from other areas. It contains at least 500 ml water and this quantity does not come even in 10 local coconuts. This breed is grown in Mandya district of Karnataka and we have been importing the variety ever since we set up the outlet, ” says Rudraboina Ashok.
