October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P. Sugunakar Rao has alleged that bankers have been flouting norms in sanctioning financial assistance under the Pradhana Manthri MUDRA Yojana in Karimnagar district.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he alleged that the bankers were providing loans to defaulters and neglecting the genuine beneficiaries. Stating that the money was being released by the Union government for empowering the poorer sections, he asked them to provide loans to real beneficiaries under the MUDRA scheme.

He said he had informed about the irregularities to the Collector, but in vain. He said he would be writing to Union Government to take necessary action against the bankers so that the scheme would be implemented effectively. He said he would also represent the matter to the Lead District Manager.

With regard to farmers’ suicide due to drought conditions in the State, he asked the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to keep aside politics and take appropriate measures to curb suicides by instilling confidence among farmers to continue thier profession.

Demanding the government to fulfil the promise of crop loan waiver at one time, he appealed to all sections to participate in ‘Telangana bandh’ on Saturday and extend solidarity with the distressed farming community.

BJP leaders Mallaiah Yadav, Srinivas Reddy, T. Harikumar Goud, Narender and others were also present.
