Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation former executive director (engineering) M.V. Nagavender Rao was presented with Distinguished Alumni Public Service Award by the Board of Governors and the Management of National Institute of Technology, Warangal for 2015 on Saturday during its 66th Foundation Day Celebrations here.
Mr. M.V.N. Rao did his BE in Mechanical Engineering during 1965-70 at NIT.
After obtaining engineering degree, he joined as management trainee in APSRTC.
Excels in profession
During his 35 years service in RTC, he displayed initiatives beyond the boundaries of responsibilities assigned to him in different cadres.
As Depot Manager in Nizamabad during 1975-78, he took extraordinary initiative to motivate different remote villagers to participate in sramadhaan to repair approach roads to their villages to provide RTC bus facility without waiting for the governmental agencies to carry out repairs.
He had connected 92 per cent of villages with RTC buses because of his initiative and motivational skills.
