Aspirants throng pre-eamcet counselling

Scores of students and their parents thronged the KU Senate hall, where experts cleared doubts of students at the session organised by The Hindu.

Scores of students and their parents thronged the KU Senate hall for The Hindu pre-eamcet counselling programme held in association with the ICFAI here on Tuesday. Expert faculty from various prestigious institutions attended the programme as resource persons and clarified the doubts of students on a wide range of issues such as how to choose a course and college, job prospects and research opportunities in India and abroad. The session went on for over three hours with students vying to clear their doubts along with their parents.

Professors K Ashoka Reddy and V Ramaiah from KITS college, A Raghurama Rao and N Rama Swamy from Kakatiya University, Jayadev Gyani from Jayamukhi Institute, Ch Srinivas from Vaageswari Engineering College, Karimnagar, P Ratish Kumar from NIT, Warangal and K Kishore Kumar and K Sudhakar Rao from ICFAI patiently answered the queries from participants.

Earlier, each of the resource persons introduced their respective disciplines and explained about job and research opportunities before taking on questions.

Prof Ratish Kumar explained that one could choose a branch or a college rather seeing at both of them combined. “If you choose any course in institutes like NIT, there are good job opportunities. Any branch of engineering will fetch a job if you pass out from prestigious institution,” he explained.

Prof K Ashok Reddy said electronic and instrumentation field offered great job opportunities and it was emerging field in the country. Many MNCs were coming to India to set up their medical equipment manufacturing units where graduates could look forward for opportunities.

Mr Sudhakar Rao of ICFAI urged parents and students to know more about experience of faculty, laboratory facilities and campus placements before choosing a college.

Prof N Rama Swamy said biotechnology has good scope for career in abroad and in India, it was slowly expanding. One could opt for research in biotechnology.
