Another Congress MLA -- this time K. Upender Reddy, who represents Palair in Khammam district -- has expressed his willingness to join the TRS.

He is the sixth Congress MLA and the third from the party in erstwhile Khammam district to announce shifting loyalties to the TRS.

The others are: Rega Kantha Rao and Ms. Haripriya Naik -- both are from Khammam, Atram Sakku from Asifabad, Mr. Chirumarthi Lingaiah from Nalgonda and Sabita Indra Reddy from Ranga Reddy district.

Mr. Upender Reddy met TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao here on Thursday and later issued a press release explaining reasons for getting attracted to the TRS. He expressed willingness to resign his membership of Assembly, if needed, and seek fresh election. In the release, the MLA said he decided to join the TRS to strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as he strongly believes that the development of Khammam and Palair constituency is possibly solely under the leadership of Mr. Rao.

He also believed that all the irrigation projects grounded in Khammam would be completed and the district turned green under Mr. Rao’s leadership. The Bhakta Ramdas project was constructed on a warfooting to irrigate drought-hit areas of Palair constituency. The Sitarama project elsewhere in the district is being completed with the same spirit, he said.

The State Government also took up several power, highway and drinking water projects in Khammam as never before. He did not see more committed leader than Mr. Rao who could take the State on path of development. He has complete understanding about the State.

Mr. Reddy had defeated former Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao in the recent Assembly elections.
