BJP president Amit Shah will launch the election campaign of the party at a public meeting in Mahbubnagar on Saturday.

Mr. Shah will arrive by a special aircraft at Begumpet airport where the party has arranged a reception for him. He will proceed to the party office at Nampally to address a media conference and then seek the blessings of Mahankali at the famous Lal Darwaza temple before heading to Mahabubnagar. On the way back, he will meet the State office bearers, district presidents and district in-charges at a resort at Kothur. He will return to New Delhi in the evening.

This is the second visit of Mr. Shah to Hyderabad in less than 10 days. On September 6, he stopped over at Shamshabad airport on way from Mantralayam to New Delhi to meet the core committee of BJP State unit. He had met Eenadu group chairman C. Ramoji Rao and ace shuttler Saina Nehwal here two months ago as part of ‘Sampark se Samarthan’ programme of eliciting support for the party from champions in various fields. He has promised to visit Telangana frequently to guide the party to victory in elections. Sources said Mr. Shah will go all out to target TRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in a bid to clear the air that BJP was soft on TRS. He will highlight all lapses of TRS government.

In his three-day visit to State last year, Mr. Shah had courted controversy inviting flak from Mr. Rao for the former’s comment that the Centre was providing additional funds of ₹20,000 crore to the State government. Mr. Rao had said this was a “blatant lie” and demanded Mr. Shah’s apology to the people of Telangana.
