Allotment of chambers kicks up a row

A..P and T Deputy Speakers end up sharing same premises

Allotment of same chambers to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Deputy Speakers in the Old Assembly building triggered a controversy on Friday.

Two separate circulars issued by the Telangana Legislature Secretary S. Raja Sadaram and A.P. Legislature Secretary K. Satyanarayana Rao allotted G-4 and G-5 in the Old building to Telangana Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and A.P. Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad.

In the same manner, the existing right block of Congress Legislature Party on the Assembly premises was allotted to the TRS Legislature Party. The AP Secretary’s circular earmarked the same premises to A.P. Chief Whip Kalva Srinivasulu.

The Telangana circular said the Speaker has made provisional allocation of office chambers on the premises of the Telangana Legislative Assembly for the Deputy Speaker and Legislature parties. Accordingly, apart from the chambers of Deputy Speaker, TRS, Congress, Telangana TDP, MIM, BJP, BSP and Left parties were allotted accommodation in the new Assembly building. Separate accommodation has been given to the Telangana Chief Minister, Ministers, media personnel.

As regards Andhra Pradesh Legislature, Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has been allotted office in the administrative building whereas Government Whips Koona Ravi Kumar and B. Yamini Bala were allotted office chambers in first floor of the old Assembly building.

Another Whip Meda Mallikarjun Reddy would be accommodated in the administrative building while Chintamneni Prabhakar has been asked to function from the building allotted to the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

In the Legislative Council, office accommodation has been provided to the Chairman, party offices of TRS, Congress, PDF and PRTU in the newly constructed Council building.

Sources said officials are likely to review the allotment in the next few days.
