On the eve of International Yoga Day, about 1,500 students of Siddartha High School in Mankammathota of Karimnagar performed yoga on the school premises, creating a record of sorts on Saturday.
The students, who took part in the mega event, formed the ‘international yoga symbol’ in the form of asanas and entered the India Book of Records.
Karimnagar Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Deputy DEO Jayaveer Rao, Principal Sripal Reddy, India Book of Records Telangana In-charge G. Krishna Reddy and others were present.
On the occasion, the students created awareness about the importance of a healthy living. They also urged the gathering to keep away from social media, alcohol and tobacco.
Meanwhile, on the eve of Fathers’ Day and International Yoga Day, students of Bhagavathi High School in Bhagathnagar locality of Karimnagar town participated in various programmes on Saturday.
On the occasion, they presented several cultural programmes depicting the role of parents in children’s lives and the importance of practising yoga for a healthy living. School chairman B. Ramana Rao, principal B. Vijayalaxmi and others were present.
Special Correspondent adds: On the eve of International Yoga Day, a seminar was organised by Spectra Global Concept School to create awareness about the benefits of yoga among children.
Pasham Venkataiah, former registrar, NIT Warangal, an expert yoga practitioner and teacher, demonstrated different asanas and explained their benefits to the students.
B. Prashanthi Reddy, principal of Spectra Global School, emphasised the need for practicing yoga to combat stress and atmospheric pollution in the modern day life.
Prof. L. Ram Gopal Reddy of NITW presided over the function.
Special Correspondent adds: International Yoga Day will be celebrated on a big scale on Telangana University campus at Dichpally on Sunday.
University Registrar R. Limbadri, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and NSS volunteers will take part in the celebrations, according to NSS coordinator Ch. Arathi.
She said yoga would be practiced from 7 a.m. to 7.33 a.m. and everyone in the varsity would attend it.
