The mineral rich district, considered as the industrial hub of Telangana, is poised to become a major centre for imparting skill development training to unemployed youths and women in trades with self-employment potential and relevant to industry needs.

The skill development initiatives taken by the Nava Bharat Ventures Limited (NBV), Palvancha, and the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and some other major industries in the district proved immensely beneficial for scores of unemployed youths and poor women of the coal belt region over the past couple of years.

The pre-Army recruitment training camps conducted by the Singareni Seva Samithi in Kothagudem in the past helped several unemployed youths of the region excel in the Army recruitment rallies and join the ranks of the Indian Army.

The State-of-the-art vocational training institute of the NBV at Palvancha earned wide reputation for imparting vocational training in multifarious trades including welding, air-conditioning and two-wheeler mechanism, and DTP.

The NBV’s women empowerment centre has trained hundreds of women in self-employment oriented trades such as palm leaf craft, garment making, tailoring and embroidery over the past few years.

The recently opened Kothagudem Skill Development Centre (KSDC) in partnership with the John Deere India, the leading tractor manufacturer, has provided a major impetus to the efforts by the district administration to equip the unemployed youths with the requisite skill-set to make them employable and pursue the path of financial self-reliance.

The KSDC has drawn up plans to impart training in tractor driving and repairs to unemployed youths and women soon, sources said.

The NBV’s vocational training institute in Palvancha is striving to provide training in vocational skills relevant to industry needs to create skilled workforce ready for absorption, said Palvancha-based NBV Chief Administrator (Social Development) Mohammad Ali.

Around 900 trainees of our institute had secured jobs in various major industries including SCCL , KTPS, BHEL and ITC, he said, adding that the institute bagged the prestigious CII-ITC certificate of commendation for 2017.

The State Board of Technical Education and Training has accorded recognition to various vocational courses being offered by the institute recently.
