Irritation Minister T. Harish Rao said Telangana stood as an example for other States in implementation of welfare measures.
Addressing a gathering after hoisting the national flag at the Independence Day celebration held at Parade grounds on Monday, Mr. Rao said two-year-old Telangana has etched a place among the fast growing States in India.
“Medak district has once again received national attention with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the Mission Bhagiratha at Gajwel. He also laid foundation stone for Kothapalli-Manoharabad railway line,” he said, adding that there was good news to share with the people of the district.
"The government is examining the proposal of dividing the district into three — Sangareddy, Medak, and Siddipet.”
Informing that Medak stood first in the implementation of Swachh Bharat, the Minister said Siddipet and Gajwel were open defecation-free (ODF) constituencies, and Patancheru and Medak would also join the list shortly.
Referring to the Haritha Haram programme, he said so far 2.7 crore saplings were planted in the district against a target of 3.43 crore, congratulating the district Forest Officer D. Sudhakar Reddy and Forest Range Officer Ch. Venkat Rama Rao for getting the Haritha Mithra award.
“The government is committed to get irrigation for Medak district. The projects were redesigned by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to irrigate 1 crore acres in Telangana. As part of the Kaleswaram project, the Mallannasagar project with 50 tmcft, Kondapochamm reservoir with seven tmcft, and Ranganaik reservoir with three tmcft will be completed soon. Singoor water can be used by our farmers, as alternate arrangement are being made to supply drinking water to Hyderabad,” he said, explaining about various programmes of the government.
Later in the day, cultural programmes were held by students from different schools. Collector D. Ronald Rose and other senior officials were also present.
