TTDP MLAs resent restriction on their movement

March 25, 2015 03:51 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:12 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Suspended Telugu Desam MLAs led by the Floor Leader of the party in the Telangana Assembly and Deputy Leader A. Revanth Reddy faced embarrassing moments when they were stopped by marshals, accompanied by the City Police from proceeding to the Media Point here on Wednesday.

Ever since they were suspended for the entire duration of the ongoing Budget session of the Assembly, the TDP members have been staging protest in different forms.

Prime among the demands of the suspended MLAs was a clear reply from Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary whether or not he had received a letter of resignation from former TDP MLA and presently Minister for Commercial Taxes T. Srinivas Yadav. The TDP MLAs also cried hoarse about injustice to them in seating arrangements in the House.

They got enraged when they were stopped by marshals from going to the Media Point to address a press conference on Wednesday, following orders from Speaker prohibiting their movement. The MLAs forced their way past the marshals and explained their point to the waiting media persons.

Mr. Dayakar reiterated his demand that the compact disc (CD) of video footage from all cameras covering the House be made public. “Do you have the guts to do so and let the people decide?,” he told the Government. The ruling party was only using the excuse of an alleged insult to the National Anthem by the TDP MLAs, he added.

Later, Mr. Revanth Reddy said that they had sought an appointment with Governor E.S.L. Narasimham and would give vent to their grievance.
