In a shocking incident, T. Ramakrishna Reddy, sub-inspector of police, Kukunoorpally in Medak district committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his quarters in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident took place at 1.50 a.m. He purportedly left a three-page suicide note in which he alleged that he was harassed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police and some other constables. An inquiry was ordered into the incident and Nizamabad Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Reddy would conduct an inquiry, according to Superintendent of Police Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy, who visited the spot.

According to sources, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy called over two constables and said that he was taking the extreme step. Worried over the SI's words, the constables immediately informed Gajwel Sub-Inspector Kamalakar, who rushed to Kuknoorpally.

By the time Mr. Kamalakar reached the spot, Ramakrishna Reddy had committed suicide. The body was shifted to the Gajwel area hospital. He was a native of Bakkamantragudem of Mathampally mandal in Nalgonda district. Before being posted at Kuknoorpally, he worked at Lakdikapul and Sultan Bazar in the city. He was survived by wife and two children.

Alleging that DSP Sridhar and Circle Inspector Venkataiah were responsible for the suicide and demanding action against them, Ramakrishna Reddy's relatives staged a dharna at Gajwel and traffic came to stand still for some time.
