The municipal authorities with the help of police machinery evicted all the road-side vegetable vendors and shifted them to the newly opened rythu bazaar on Wednesday.

The municipal authorities along with the police officials arrive at the road opposite to Venkateshwara temple near tower circle area early in the morning and removed all encroachments and shifted all the vegetable vendors to the rythu bazaar. Initially, the vendors resisted, but they were advised to shift to the rythu bazaar.

On Tuesday evening, Mayor S Ravinder Singh along with commissioner Krishna Bhaskar, DSP J Rama Rao, town police officials convened a meeting and discussed about the removal of the road-side vendors and make easy flow of traffic in the town. It may be recalled that Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T Harish Rao after inaugurating the rythu bazaar on Sunday directed the authorities to ensure that no vegetable or fruit vendors occupied pavements and roads.

Collector Neetu Prasad had also instructed the authorities concerned to shift them to rythu bazaar. She also promised identity cards to the vendors to sell the products in the rythu bazaar.

When contacted, Mayor S Ravinder Singh said that they have advised the vendors to shift to the rythu bazaar which was having all amenities.

He said that they would remove the remaining roadside fruit vendors at Tower Circle, Mission Hospital and other places in the town in a phased manner.
