A high-level delegation led by Principal Secretary (Agriculture Production Commissioner) M. Poonam Malakondaiah visited the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on Tuesday.
The delegation comprising Commissioner and Director of Agriculture B. Janardhan Reddy, Director of Research of Prof. Jayashankar State Agricultural University D. Raji Reddy and Deputy Director of Horticulture Padmavati visited some of the establishments of the premier agricultural university to study the integrated farming systems in view of the climate change.
The delegation visited farm mechanisation, turmeric and coriander units, nano technology centre, sugarcane breeding institute and distance education centre for young farmers. They also examined the implementation of e-extension system in the university.
The delegation felt that some of the best practices could be adopted in Telangana State. After the high-level delegation’s visit, a team of farmers, scientists, field officers would be sent on study tour to the university. The delegation had interaction with the vice-chancellor of TNAU on cropping system.
