As many as four of the total 12 employees of the TSRTC, who reported for duty before the expiry of the deadline set by the State government on Tuesday midnight, reportedly resumed duty on Wednesday.

However, the remaining eight employees failed to turn up apparently backtracking on their decision to call off the stir and rejoin duty. Over 2,500 striking employees of the Corporation in Khammam region intensified their agitation by organising rallies and demonstrations in various parts of both Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts on the 33rd day of the strike on Wednesday.

Tension

Mild tension broke out at the bus station in Khammam when a group of agitated RTC employees tried to block the movement of a few hired buses as part of a demonstration to press for their charter of demands.

Cadres of the Opposition parties joined the stir expressing their solidarity with the striking employees.

The police whisked away some of the demonstrators, who squatted in front of the bus station, in a bid to stop the hired buses run by temporary crew, from plying.
