Malkajgiri Member of Parliament and TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy has accused TS Transco and Genco Managing Director Prabhakar Rao of misleading the people on the amount of loans raised for power sector since 2014.

At a press conference here, he claimed that so far ₹ 74,000 crore have been raised as loans for power supply and agreements while Mr. Prabhakar Rao was misleading by saying only ₹ 35,000 crores were raised. “If Mr. Prabhakar Rao was sincere, he should divulge the details of his figures immediately,” he said.

Pointing out that power generation in the government owned units fell down from 80% to 69%, Mr. Reddy asked why did this happen if Mr. Rao was so efficient. Is it not true that the South Central Railway wrote a letter objecting to TS Discoms offer of ₹ 7.10 per unit, he asked.

He alleged that the government was running the show appointing retired officers Prabhakar Rao, Raghuma Reddy and Gopal Rao as the IAS officers would not blindly sign the agreements. Senior IAS officers were seeking transfer from the department unable to work with Mr. Prabhakar Rao, he claimed.

The MP also took objection to employees protesting when Opposition parties were highlighting corruption in the department.

Electricity employees JAC leader Raghu’s voice was suppressed for flagging the questionable deals while other employees supporting the government are being given a free hand to protest.

Employees’ protest

“How come these union leaders did not protest when sanctions were imposed on Mr. Raghu for speaking against the government,” he said and asked employees to maintain restraint.

Mr. Revanth said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana was divided as KCR supporters and those who were opposing KCR, and there is no place for those opposing KCR. “I am ready to provide evidence to BJP chief Laxman if he agrees to the CBI probe demand,” he said.
