Good coordination between police and officials of Education Department led to the admission of three girl children in Mahima Ministries, an orphanage, located at Ameenpur in Medak district on Friday.
The mother of three children, Godavi Premalamma, had approached S. Vijaya Kumar, Sub-Inspector (Chiragpally) to seek some help from him as he was actively involved in social activities.
Hailing from Chiragpally village in Zaheerabad mandal, she had a tough time bringing up her four children – Akshita (12), Iswarya (9), Ambika (5) and one-and-a-half-year old Aswita – after the untimely death of her husband.
Being a daily wage labourer, Premalamma struggled to make ends meet.
It was at this juncture that she sought help from the SI, who immediately asked D. Anjaiah, Mandal Education Officer (Kohir), to address the issue. Later, they both contacted R.D. Maharaju, founder of Mahima Ministries, asking him to admit the girls in the hostel. Three girls were admitted to the hostel, while the last girl would be taken in after some time.
“Premalamma was unable to look after them and we are not financially sound to support her. So we approached the police who came forward to help us,” Prabhu, Premalamma’s kin, told The Hindu .
