One person has been arrested on charges of shooting a woman fatally in a suspected case of mistaken identity at Katchikuppam village near Thirukovilur on Tuesday evening. The victim was identified as Parvathy (45) wife of Subramaniam Gounder.
The police have arrested the accused Anthony Raj of Memalur. Police sources said the victim was diverting water to her sugarcane field when a group led by Anthony Raj chasing a wild boar shot at Parvathy with a country-made gun killing her on the spot. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
