An unidentified man entered the house of Kamaleswari (25) of Ulagampalayam in Tiruchengode and snatched her eight-sovereign gold jewellery on Saturday night.

The incident took place when she was sleeping at home. She raised an alarm and her husband Kandasamy (33), who was sleeping outside the house, tried to nab the miscreant. However, he attacked Kandasamy and fled the scene.

On Sunday morning, it was found that miscreants broke open a house near Kandasamy’s house and the almirah. Since they could not find anything, they entered Kandasamy’s house.

College students were staying in the house.

Also, the miscreants entered the house of Ramayaee (65) in Machampalayam and tied her with a rope and took away Rs. 3,000 kept in the almirah.

The Tiruchengode Rural police have registered three cases and are investigating.
