Woman killed as lorry rams into hut

A woman was killed and two others were injured when a parcel lorry veered off from road and ploughed into their hut near Chengam on Wednesday.

The Coimbatore-ound parcel lorry from Chennai was crossing the Kilpalur junction near here when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The lorry veered off from road and ploughed into the roadside hut of Kaliyappan, a manual worker.

His wife Uma (26) was killed instantly while Kaliyappan and Uma’s grandma Valliyammal sustained injuries.

They were admitted to the Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College Hospital.

The Kadaladi police have booked a case and have arrested the lorry driver Raman.
