Woman attacks man

A 32-year-old man who allegedly fought with a woman vendor in Avadi market was attacked by the woman and her friends on Wednesday.

According to the Avadi police, around 2 p.m., Gnanavelu, 32, who was allegedly drunk, approached the chicken shop in Avadi market run by one Jailani, 36. He told her that he wanted a black chicken to be used for a funeral.

The woman told him that it costs ₹550, but he gave her ₹500 and an argument broke out between them. It is alleged that he hurled abuses. Angered over this, she attacked him with a knife.

Gnanavelu was admitted to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The Avadi police are investigating.
