A welding simulator to impart training to students on welding techniques was commissioned at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Gorimedu here on Tuesday.

This is the first Government ITI in the State to get this facility.

The simulator will enable the students to learn the welding techniques on the computer screen before proceeding for the hands-on training in classroom / workshop.

They can spend any amount of time to learn the technique.

The simulator will help avoid the wastage of material, energy, and reduce the cost of final product, besides saving the precious time.

The Titan Company Limited, Hosur, has donated this welding simulator worth Rs. 12 lakh to the Government ITI.

N. E. Sridhar, chairman of the Institute Management Committee and Head-Corporate Sustainability, Titan Company Limited, commissioned the new facility at a function held on the ITI premises in the presence of S. Ravi Baskar, Regional Joint Director of Training, Coimbatore region, and R. Rajendran, principal of the Government ITI.
