A ‘Water rocket launching contest’ for school students was organised at District Science Centre here on Wednesday in connection with the ongoing ‘World Space Week’ celebrations.
As the contest in ‘individual category’ was organised on Wednesday, 24 students from various schools participated in the competition. While student Ramkumar from Thisaiyanvilai bagged the first prize by sending his water rocket for about 70 feet height, Jefferson and Anto Jude Geoffrey, both from Palayamkottai, won the second and third prizes.
A similar competition in ‘team category’ for school students will be conducted at DSC on Thursday between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the ‘Water rocket launching contest’ with launch pad will be organised on Friday for school and college students.
Winners will receive the prizes in the valediction on Saturday.
