Lorry driver, who was wanted in connection with the killing of six persons in a suspected case of murder surrendered before a court at Shencottah on Saturday.

In a gruesome incident, six persons, who were travelling in an auto at Keezha Pudhur near Puliyarai, were killed when a speeding lorry rammed it on Thursday.

Though it was initially treated as a case of accident, police during investigation found that it was a pre-planned murder as lorry driver K. Thirumalaikumar of Karkudi, who had developed enmity with auto driver Karuppasamy and passengers Adivetti and Mahesh, had hit the autorickshaw with the motive of killing them.

Along with the trio, three more were also crushed to death in the mishap. Hence, the case was altered into a murder case on Friday night.

Remanded

Even as the police were on the lookout for Thirumalaikumar, he surrendered before the Shencottah court on Saturday and Judge Madhava Ramanujam remanded him in judicial custody.
