VIRUDHUNAGAR
Virudhunagar District Revenue Officer I. Anand Kumar, who kicked up a controversy by walking to his office from his residence, citing non-allocation of a ‘a motorable official vehicle’ to him, thus making public his differences with Collector A. Sivagnanam, was transferred and posted as Zonal Officer of Greater Chennai Corporation on Tuesday.
District Revenue Officer (Land Acquisition - NH), Pudukottai, K. Udhayakumar has been posted as Virudhunagar DRO.
Simmering differences between Mr. Sivagnanam and Mr. Anand Kumar led to a few spats among the officials. However, the differences came to public domain after the DRO walked all the way to his office from his residence on July 2.
The Collector denied the charge, stating that the DRO was in possession of two vehicles.
The differences between the two first precipitated into a controversy when the Collector issued a statement charging the office of the DRO delaying processing of applications seeking renewal of licences for fireworks units and shops. The DRO complained that the Collector was being misguided by some officials.
