Two-year-old murdered

A two-year-old boy was murdered and the body was found in a decomposed State in a bushy area at Madavamedu near Kollidam in the district on Monday.

The child’s mother who was speech impaired was found in an unconscious condition a few distance from the spot and admitted to hospital.

The Pudupattinam police have booked a murder case against C. Ramesh, aged around 40, who has been accused of murdering the child and attempting to kill its mother L. Revathy (32).

Ramesh and Revathy belong to the coastal hamlet of Dargas near Kollidam in the district.

According to police, Ramesh had an illegal affair with Revathy married to Lakshmanan. A problem is said to have arose between them.

Police sources said Ramesh took Revathy along with her male child to a secluded spot a few days ago where he allegedly strangulated her with the gold thaali chain she wore.

The woman became unconscious and presuming that she had died, Ramesh took the child to a bushy area a few distance away and allegedly murdered the kid and left the spot, the police said.

Locals who noticed the woman in an unconscious state got her admitted to hospital. The villagers searched for the missing baby and found the decomposed body of the kid inside a bushy area on Monday. The sources said police were on the look out for Ramesh who is absconding.
