Two Tangedco employees on Tuesday suffered an electric shock while engaged in restoring power supply in Pudukottai district. Their condition is stated to be critical.
Police sources said Mohan and Murugesan from Tiruchengode in Namakkal district were engaged in restoration works at Kalamavur near Keeranur, when the incident occurred in the morning. They were atop electric posts when they suffered an electric shock and became unconscious.
Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar, who was monitoring restoration works in a nearby area, rushed to the spot. With help from locals and electricity staff, he carried one of the workers and put him on board an ambulance. They were taken to Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital. The Minister visited the hospital and enquired about their condition.
Hospital authorities said their condition was critical.
