Two AIADMK party workers suffered burns due to electrocution while putting up a flex board of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in front of the bus stand in the rural town of Tharamangalam in the early hours of Saturday.

Police sources said that the party men, Rajavel (26) and Manikandan (24), both of Thuttampatti village, were installing the giant flex board in connection with the two-day visit of the Chief Minister to the district, when the bamboo they were holding atop came into contact with a live wire.

Both suffered severe burns and were thrown. They were rushed to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital (GMKMCH) in Salem, where they were admitted in the burns ward.

According to hospital sources, their condition is stable. The flex board was dismantled immediately.

Tharamangalam Police are investigating.
