Two labourers killed in road accident

Two persons were killed on the spot after the two-wheeler in which they were travelling collided with a lorry on the Chennai-Chittoor Road on Sunday.

Police said Balaji (26), a resident of Sathur village along with Venkatesan (25), a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Krishnavaram in Arcot were returning from Serkadu. They were daily wage labourers.

Balaji was riding the two-wheeler, with Venkatesan on the pillion.

They were travelling towards Arcot on the Chennai-Chittoor Road. A lorry was plying from Chennai towards Chittoor.

The two vehicles collided near Eranthaangal village, killing the duo on the spot. The accident occurred at 8 a.m.

Following this, Venkatesan’s father Mohan (55) lodged a complaint at the Thiruvalam police station.

A case has been registered. The lorry driver absconded from the spot and the police have seized the vehicle.
