Two, including Sub-Registrar, held on graft charge

Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Tuesday arrested a Sub-Registrar and a document writer for demanding and receiving a bribe of ₹50,000 for fixing guideline value for a property.

According to DVAC sources, Sankaralingam, Sub-Registrar at Joint II Sub-Registrar office, Tindivanam, and Saravanan, document writer, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant, for processing his application that sought to fix guideline value for registration of a property obtained through Dhana settlement (gift deed) from his father. The complainant lodged a complaint with the DVAC police in Villupuram.

The team laid a trap and arrested Sankaralingam and Saravanan while receiving the bribe. Further investigations are on.
