Town panchayat president removed

District Collector M. Rajendran has removed Peranamallur town panchayat president V. Prema (DMK) from her post for allegedly misusing her powers.

She had issued no objection certificates citing fake council resolution numbers for sale of housing plots.

A release issued by Information and Public Relations Office, Tiruvannamalai district on Tuesday said that unapproved housing layouts were created in survey numbers 273/1(A), 1(B), 2 and 274 in Peranamallur town against the rules.

The Collector recommended her removal to the government and orders were issued April 29. Based on that order the collector has removed her from the post of president, the release added.
