The TMC (Moopanar), led by G.K. Vasan, may be allocated the Mayiladuthurai Parliamentary constituency as part of the AIADMK-led alliance, according to a ruling party leader.

Mr. Vasan broke ranks with the Congress four years ago and revived the TMC(M), which was originally set up by his father G.K. Moopanar in 1996. If the deal comes through, the TMC(M) will face the election as an ally of the BJP at the national level. In 1999, Moopanar refused to have any truck with the BJP and parted ways with the DMK to contest the election in the company of smaller parties.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK is expected to announce its candidates for the Lok Sabha election on Sunday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the late party leader and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. As of now, the ruling party was planning to field its nominees in 25 constituencies, including one each for the Puthiya Tamizhagam, the Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi, the New Justice Party and the TMC(M), the senior leader said.
