The police have detained four persons in connection with the >
murder of Dalit youth V. Sankar (22) on Sunday. They have been taken to the Udumalpet police station.
No arrest had been recorded by officials till now, sources said.
Sankar and his wife Kausalya, who belongs to the Thevar community, were attacked by a gang on Sunday. While Sankar died, Kausalya is being treated at a Coimbatore hospital for >
the injuries she sustained.
Police sources said the four persons, Jegadeesan, Selvakumar, Manikantan and Madan, were friends of Chinnasamy (39), Kausalya's father.

Chinnasamy, who runs a travel agency, surrendered before a court at Nilakottai in Dindigul district on Sunday.
NHRC visit
A National Human Rights Commission team was likely to visit Udumalpet on Wednesday, sources said.
