Sanitary workers of the Corporation carried out fogging in a few cinema halls in and around Tirunelveli Junction on Saturday as part of its ongoing anti-dengue operations.

Since the day-biting Aedis mosquitoes are spreading dengue, the Corporation personnel conducted fogging in cinema halls and adjoining areas. The cinema hall managers were asked to clean the tanks periodically and keep storage points closed.

Mayor E. Bhuvaneshwari, City Health Officer V. Rajasekar, Sanitary Inspectors Shahul Hameed, Murugesan, Sankaranarayanan and Subramanian supervised the fogging operations.

Plastic bags

Meanwhile, the Corporation personnel, on the instruction from Commissioner S. Sivasubramanian, conducted surprise check in a few shops around Tirunelveli Junction bus-stand and seized 60 kg of plastic carry bags. They slapped a fine of Rs. 600 on the traders who had stocked and used it for selling their products.

“The anti-dengue operations and seizure of use-and-throw plastic products within Corporation limits will continue in the days to come also,” said Mr. Sivasubramanian.
