Tirukkural Tiruvizha held

Nineth Tirukkural Tiruvizha was held near Triveni Sangamam in Kanyakumari on Friday. Shanmugvel, President, Pavendar Peravai of Soolur in Coimbatore garlanded the statue brought from Coimbatore as part of “Tirukkural Onsudar campaign” to mark the inauguration of the Tiruvizha. Tamil scholar Punjai Villavan inaugurated the festival and lit the torch. Volunteers who had assembled for the programme recited the couplets after A. Tamilmani, Chief of the Tirukkural Trust.

Later, the office-bearers of the Tirukkural Trust offered floral tributes to the Tiruvalluvar Statue near Vivekanandar Rock. The van carrying the Tiruvalluvar statue for “Tirukkural Onsudar campaign” was taken in a rally in Kanyakumari in the evening. Booklet containing the couplets were distributed free of cost to the public thronging Kanyakumari.
