Three killed as auto rams bus

Three persons were killed in an accident as an auto-rickshaw, in which they were travelling, collided with a TNSTC bus near Karunkulam on Ambasamudram Main Road on Saturday night.

M. Pal Mariappan (25), auto driver of Amman Kovil Street, Tharuvai, was driving the auto in a disturbed state of mind allegedly after he had some dispute with his family members, police said. The bus was going to Papanasam from Tirunelveli. The victims were Pal Mariappan, his mother Mariammal (45), and his grandfather A. Velu (70).

While Mariammal and Velu died on spot, Pal Mariappan died at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, the police added. Tirunelveli Traffic Investigation Wing filed a case.
