Thoothukudi records pass percentage of 96.93

Thoothukudi district recorded a pass percentage of 96.93 and stood fifth in State-level ranking order in the SSLC examination, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

Last year, with a pass percentage of 96.74 the district was at the seventh place at the State level.

As many as 25,347 students (12,325 boys and 13,022 girls) from 292 schools appeared for the examination, and 24,569 of them (11,749 boys and 12,820 girls) passed, Education Department sources said. In Thoothukudi education district, 7,387 of the 7,710 boys and 8,114 of the 8,201 girls, who appeared for the exam, passed. A total of 9,068 of the 9,436 students who sat for the exam in Kovilpatti education district passed.

Toppers

With a score of 498, four students stood second in the State and first in the district.

Thirteen students came third at the State level and second in the district with 497 marks.

Seventeen students scored 496 marks and stood third in the district.

Those who secured State second rank are: K. Akash of Star Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi; G. Balaji of Ravilla KRA Vidhyashram MHSS, Kovilpatti; V. Harini of Punitha Ohm Convent MHSS, Kovilpatti; and S. Karen Sneha of Kanchi Sri Sankara MHSS, Tiruchendur.

Akash scored centum in Mathematics, Science and Social Science, and 99 each in Tamil and English. Balaji scored centum in Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English, and 98 in Tamil.

V. Harini scored full marks in Mathematics, Science and Social Science and 99 in Tamil and English.

S. Karen Sneha got centum in Mathematics, Science and Social Science, and 99 in Tamil and English.

Meigayathri of Holy Cross Girls HSS, Thoothukudi, J. Niranjana Gayathri of BMC School, Thoothukudi, R. Reshma of Counian MHSS, Kovilpatti, N. Sabarna of Holy Cross Girls School, Thoothukudi, I. Shilpavanaja Devi of Kanchi Sri Sankara School, Tiruchendur, S. Sri Janani of Spic Nagar HSS, Thoothukudi, and R. Yamini of Ravilla KRA Vidhyashram School, Kovilpatti.
