The members of music fraternity rendered ‘Pancharathna Keerthanas’ of Sadguru Thiagaraja at the valediction of the week-long ‘Salethil Thiruvaiyaru 2016’ festival in the city on Friday.

The event was brought up by the Salem Sangeetha Vidhwath Sabha in connection with the 169 th Sadguru Thiagaraja Aradhana festival. The renowned musicians, both vocalists and instrumentalists, music teachers and a large number of music students rendered the keerthanas of Saint Thiagaraja for more than three hours at the Dr. C. Vijayaragavachariar hall on Cherry Road.

The day commenced with unja viruthi holy procession in the morning. Later, in the evening Suchitra a city music teacher along with her students rendered sangeetha upanyasam on the topic ‘Rama Naama Prabhavam’.

The day came to an end with Aanjaneya Vidaiyatri urchavam in the night.

The festival commenced on May 22.
