Footage of surveillance cameras at Sri Arthanareeswarar Temple in Tiruchengode shows that the Dalit youth V. Gokulraj and the girl Swathi visited the temple on June 23, a day before his body was found on the railway track. Camera 1, 2, 3 and 4 near the main deity show the boy and the girl entering the temple at 10.52 a.m. and are seen offering prayers. After 11.50 am, the girl is seen leaving the temple followed by an unidentified man. They are followed by the victim Gokulraj who is accompanied by four unidentified men.
At 11.57 a.m. Gokulraj and the unidentified men enter the temple again. Temple sources said that they left the temple through an exit that leads to vehicle parking area. A three-member team from the National Commission for Scheduled Castes on Saturday visited the temple and also the spot where Gokulraj was found with his head severed along the railway track at South Thottipalayam, near Pallipalayam. The team held inquiries with the local people. The team included P. Ramasami, Assistant Director (Tamil Nadu and Puducherry), National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Research Officer Director C. Chandraprabha and Investigator A. Iniyavan.
