Police seized Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) wine bottles and tin beer products from a kiosk at Molachur near Sungavarchatram on Saturday night. Two persons – Srinivasan of Molachur, kiosk owner, and Kumar of Paasanampatti, owner of the house in which the shop was run – were arrested.

The Sungavarchatram police had got a tip-off that certain brands of wine products, which were not available at the Molachur TASMAC shop, were being sold at a premium at a kiosk run by Srinivasan.

Further, tin beer products, which were not allowed for marketing in Tamil Nadu, were also sold at the kiosk, the police said. Subsequently, the police raided the kiosk and seized 1,450 bottles wine and 500 tin beer products.
