Tasmac employees staged a demonstration here on Tuesday in support of their charter of demands.
They demanded provision of salary on par with government employees. According to them, the employees were paid an adhoc payment of Rs.6,500, Rs.4,800 and Rs.3,600 even after 11 years of being employed with Tasmac.
According to them, the compensation for the employees did not commensurate with the revenue earned by the government through Tasmac annually. The State Government had earned additional revenue of Rs. 2,000 crore by way of tax on liquor and the government has set a target of Rs. 30,000 crore as revenue for 2015.
According to them, there was no 8-hour work limit, no extra pay for overtime and no provision for weekly off.
Victimisation
The protesters also alleged victimisation of employees by Tasmac officials under the garb of inspections.
In the absence of regularised guidelines, employees were subject to arbitrary dismissals and suspensions, the protesters alleged.
The Tasmac Employees Association of Dharmapuri has also proposed to hold a demonstration on June 15.
