Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss has criticised the Tamil Nadu government for allegedly filling up 38 out of the 187 assistant professor posts in government engineering colleges that are reserved for those who studied in Tamil medium, with those who studied in English medium.

“This action by the government amounts to betraying students studying in Tamil medium schools after assuring them of a government job,” Mr. Anbumani said in a statement.

He stated that the exams to fill the 192 posts that fell vacant in 2013-14 and 2014-15 were conducted in October last year.

20% quota

“Within each of the reservation categories, at least 20% of the seats is reserved for those who studied in Tamil medium. At least 38 seats should have been set aside.

“Despite 39 Tamil medium candidates applying for the post, they were all rejected on the grounds that none of them was qualified,” the PMK leader said.
